In sections 20-25 Whitman's self-appraisal is the key-note. He declares himself
“the poet of Body” and “the poet of Soul.” In section 20 he declares himself to be “solid and
sound,” “deathless,” and “august” and, while no one is better than he, no one is worse. In section
21 he states that he is a poet of pleasure and pain, and of men and women. Calling to Earth, he thanks it for giving love,
which he answers with love. In section 22 he also confuse his love for the sea and how he feels at with it. He feels that
it has the same characteristics as him. In section 23 he confirms his acceptance of “Reality.” In section 24 Whitman
presents his truths on himself and the universe. In section 25 he declares his power of range as a poet.
